The Challenge

Dense breast tissue affects nearly half of all women undergoing mammography screening. This tissue type not only increases cancer risk but also presents challenges during screening, as it can obscure visualization on traditional mammograms, potentially leading to later-stage detection when treatment options are more complex.

Our Solution

WAVED’s patented computational approach is being developed to analyze mammographic images and identify specific patterns in at-risk dense breast tissue. Unlike black box AI approaches that lack transparency, our interpretable methodology allows radiologists to understand how tissue analysis is performed. Our research focuses on creating add-on software that would work with existing mammography systems to provide radiologists with additional analytical information for screening decisions.
